Special districts of all types are invited to join the Missouri Special Districts Association, and be part of the mission to network, educate, and advocate for districts across the Show-Me State. Core benefits of Special District Membership includes:
Get the latest from Jefferson City and across Missouri from the Association's grassroots network on priority issues. Legislative reports and updates are sent via email on a biweekly during the legislative session (January -May) and on a breaking news basis. This includes a MoSDA Legislative Tracker following bills of interest (impacting MoSDA policy priorities).
MoSDAMembers may access tools for their advocacy such as template letters, talking points and discussion guides, background memos, and assistance for direct advocacy to lawmakers. MoSDA Members are welcome to attend Roundtables at no cost.
MoSDA hosts monthly "Statewide Coordinating Calls" via Zoom to network Missouri's district leaders, understand the full scope of state policy impacts on the state's districts, gather strength in numbers, and better understand service needs. Monthly statewide coordinating calls are only for MoSDA Members.
MoSDA coordinates monthly calls to ensure special district leaders are familiar with one another, understand the full scope of state policy impacts on the state's districts, gather strength in numbers, and forge a united front of advocacy. MoSDA Members receive discounts on workshop registration.
Through networking and professional events, MoSDA prioritizes and fosters an environment for mentorship and community for special district stakeholders. Special District Members are plugged into the issues of the day and collaborate toward solutions.
MoSDA Members receive one comp'd subscription to the biweekly Special Districts Download, which is Special District Strategies, L.L.C.'s every-other-Monday email newsletter (formerly Fridays) offering updates on federal policy matters and trending state issues for the special district perspective.
MoSDA annual membership dues are based on the district's previous fiscal year revenues. Covered revenues include those from property tax, sales tax, user fees, and utility rates. One-time or limited-time funds, such as grants or disaster reimbursements, are not considered for dues calculation. | Each of the five tiers of membership dues is below:
Annual Revenue: $0 - $149,999
Annual Revenue: $150,000 - $249,999
Annual Revenue: $250,000 - $999,999
Annual Revenue: $1 million - $4.99 million
Annual Revenue: $5 million - $19.99 million
Annual Revenue: > $20 million
Benefits extend to all directors/trustees/commissioners, managers, administrators, support staff, and volunteers affiliated with a MoSDA Special District Member. | MoSDA Members are eligible to serve on an Association Committee. | Each MoSDA Special District Member in good standing is entitled one (1) vote for Association business. | The Association is prohibited from leveraging MoSDA Membership dues on political candidate campaigns or action on ballot measures.
Businesses and professional organizations offering services to assist Missouri’s special districts strong, trusted, local governance and resilient public services to millions of Missourians are invited to join MoSDA as Business/Organization Supporting Members.
MoSDA Business/Organization Supporters are invited (and encouraged) to directly engage with special district leaders during advocacy and networking events. Members with professional insights, governance education topics, and other relevant content are invited to showcase their services during MoSDA events.
Each member's level of support is noted on the MoSDA "About Us" page with website and contact information noted.
All Supporting Organizations will be noted on MoSDA workshop, roundtable, and statewide coordinating call agendas.
MoSDA will develop in its first year a professional resources directory of MoSDA Supporting Organizations. This will be a go-to listing for our special district members that outlines and spotlights each of our Supporting Organizations. Logo inclusion, word count, and ad space varies based on membership tier.

MoSDA welcomes school districts, community colleges, cities, counties, and other public agencies sharing the mission to advance Missouri’s special districts, supporting policy and governance education initiatives, and interested in attending local and regional MoSDA events.
MoSDA Local Government Partner Members receive the same core membership benefits as Special District Members; however, as Associate Members, our Local Government Partners do not receive a vote in association business.
For cities, counties, or other local non-education agencies serving a population of less than 5,000.
For cities, counties, or other local non-education agencies serving a population size 5,000 - 19,999.
For cities, counties, or other local non-education agencies serving a population of 20,000 or greater.
For K-12 school districts with fewer than 500 students enrolled at the end of the previous school year.
For K-12 school districts and community college districts with 500+ students enrolled at the end of the previous school year.
Benefits extend to elected/appointed leaders, managers, and staff affiliated with a MoSDA Local Government Partner Member. | The Association is prohibited from leveraging MoSDA Membership dues on political candidate campaigns or action on ballot measures.
